Sudo apt-get install samba samba-common-binĪdd users to samba with: sudo smbpasswd -a user1Īdd users to group pi with: sudo usermod -a -G pi user1 Setup: Raspbian with Samba and external HDD /dev/sda1 This is what's working for me after trial and error on a pi4 with Raspbian and Samba. But the Mac just does not seem to see the Samba server on the Pi.ĭoes anyone have any ideas what I might be missing? I can ping the Pi from my Mac and vice versa, and my Mac can talk to the Pi via VNC and Plex. Here are the Samba settings on the Pi: $ tail /etc/samba/smb.confĭaemon_ready: daemon 'smbd' finished starting up and ready to serve $ smbclient //192.168.0.237/share Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection and then try again. The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. The Samba server works on the Pi, but when I try to connect the Mac to the server smb://192.168.0.237/share it times out and I get this error: I wish to connect a Mac (Big Sur) to a Samba server running on a Raspberry Pi (Bullseye).
